Whether you’re making pizza or pasta, you can use this basic tomato sauce recipe to transform your jar of crushed whole tomatoes into an irresistible sauce in just 30 minutes!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp of olive oil

  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced

  • 3 garlic cloves, diced

  • fresh or dried herbs, chopped (options include basil, oregano, thyme, parsley, and red pepper flakes)

  • Kosher salt

  • 1 jar of Quabbin Hill Farms whole crushed tomato

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a heavy bottomed stock pot or dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

  2. Add chopped onions and cook until softened and translucent, about 3-5 minutes. Add garlic and continue cooking for another 2 minutes.

  3. Add herbs of your choice and continue cooking until aromatic, about 2 minutes. Add a healthy amount of salt.

  4. Pour the jar of whole crushed tomatoes to the pan, and bring to a simmer. Lower hear and continue cooking for 15 minutes. Salt to taste.
